| Most of our dogs are dual registered with the ADBA (American Dog Breeders Association) and the UKC (United Kennel Club), while some are also registered with the CKC (Continental Kennel Club). This ensures that you are purchasing a purebred American Pit Bull Terrier. In addition, we as APBT lovers need to always be aware and conscious of the negative attention our beloved breed has endured during the late 1980's and 1990's and we must work hard to reverse the stereotypes. A big part of being a pit bull owner is also being both an educator about and advocate for the breed. We not only suggest, but strongly urge you to research this breeds history if you already haven't to understand the impact that the APBT has had on the history of this country. For a better part of this country's existence, the APBT has been "America's Dog" We at Glorious K9 Kennels believe that the APBT can be just that once again. To understand a pit bull and its history is to first understand the history of the dog (Canis lupus familiaris). Although there are about 800 dog breeds, dogs actually originate from two early species of wolf (in fact all species of dog can be bred to wolves). As time and man progressed, dog breeds were developed according to the use that man had for them. For example, early bloodhounds were bred for sniffing the trails of slaves and hunting prey, early mastiffs were bred for war and combat alongside man, most terriers were bred to burrow into holes for rats and other rodents. Well, pit bulls were bred early on to fight in the pit to the death for their masters. The characteristics that were necessary for dog pit fighting then allow their descendants (modern pit bulls) to take interest in anything their master shows interest in. This is what makes the modern American Pit Bull Terrier the best breed on the planet! These dogs can be trained to do any and everything that you want them to do. They have a need and eagerness to please their master unmatched by any other breed. Not only that, but they are wonderful family companions and excellent around children. It's not the dog, it's how you raise it. I have always been a dog lover. Coming from a dog family, I have always had a dog in my life since a young boy. My grandfather bred German Shepherds and Pit Bulls and I always had a fondness for them since my very first pup given to me at age 7. As a young teen, I was given a Pit Bull named Xena and she was the love of my life. I immediately started researching the breed as a teen and was intrigued with the history and the myriad of stories of champion game dogs of the past. I had Xena until I went to college and sent her off to my father's farm in Virginia. Since then, I have been driven to take this breed to the next level in genetics and reputation. Since Xena I have bred, owned, and sold well over 200 dogs, all American Pit Bull Terriers! IF IT AIN'T A PIT BULL, IT'S JUST A DOG !!!  "Punish the deed, not the breed!" |
